R7.52 - THE RINGLAND ANDERSON CHAIR OF OPTHALMOLOGY
Recitals-
- In 1958 the University established a chair of Ophthalmology and
appointed the first professor in 1963.
- The Council resolved that the chair be known as the Ringland Anderson
Chair in Ophthalmology.
- The subscription fund for the chair which amounted to £43,279
in 1958 increased to $195,618 on 8 June 2001.
It is provided as follows-
- The sum of $195,618 and any additions and accumulations towards
the sum forms a fund called the Ringland Anderson Chair of Ophthalmology
Fund ('the fund') and the fund must be paid into an investment pool
and remain there until the Council directs otherwise.
- The annual net income of the fund is applied towards the payment
of the salary including provision for his or her retirement of the
professor who holds the title of 'The Ringland Anderson professor
in Ophthalmology'.
- The professor is appointed for such period and on such conditions
as the Council from time to time determines.
