View/Print PDF (9 KB)

Recitals-

  1. In 1927 the family of the late George Graham, on whom the degree of doctor of Medicine was conferred by the University in 1862, presented £500 to the University to provide a plaque to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Graham and his wife, the balance of the sum to be held in trust and the income applied for the purchase of British and foreign medical and scientific journals for the Medical School library.
  2. The sum of £500 increased to $2,184 at 31 December 1994.
  3. On 31 October 2002 the Attorney General of Victoria made an Order that-

‘The income be applied from time to time to purchase books for the Rare Book Collection in the Biomedical Library, books so purchased to bear an appropriate inscription recording that they were purchased from the Graham Endowment Fund.’

It is provided as follows-

  1. The sum is to be applied in the first instance to provide a brass plaque suitably inscribed in memory of Dr. Graham and his wife.
  2. The remainder of the sum and any accumulations and additions to the remainder of the sum forms the endowment of a fund called the ‘Graham Endowment Fund’ (‘the fund’) and the fund must be paid into an investment pool and remain there until the Council directs otherwise.
  3. The income of the fund is to be applied to the purchase of books for the Rare Books Collection in the Biomedical Library, each book to bear an inscription that it was purchased from the fund.
