Mrs. Annie Wilson widow of the late R.G. Wilson
merchant of Melbourne by her will bequeathed to the University
the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of founding a scholarship
or scholarships in such subject or subjects as the Council of
the University may think best to be called the 'R.G. Wilson
Scholarship or Scholarships'.

The University
received (including interest) the sum of £2,160 4s. 8d. in satisfaction
of the bequest, which sum increased to $25,403 at 31 December
1994. |

It is provided as follows-
|
| 1. |
The sum of $25,403 and
any accumulations and additions to the sum forms the endowment
of a fund called the 'R.G. Wilson scholarships' ('the fund') and
the fund must be paid into an investment pool and remain there
until the Council directs otherwise. |
| 2. |
These are
the following R.G. Wilson scholarships ('the scholarships')- |

(a) |
one scholarship awarded
to the best student enrolled in a third year course in the department
of History; and |
|
(b) |
three scholarships awarded
to the best honours students enrolled in the faculty of Arts. |
| 3. |
Each scholarship is one
quarter of the net annual income of the fund. |
| 4. |
The scholarships
are awarded annually by the Council on the recommendation of the
dean of the faculty of Arts. |
