R3.9 - Advanced Diploma Or Associate Diploma

  1. In this regulation unless a contrary intention appears-

    "nominated discipline or specialty" means a discipline or specialty listed in Regulation 5.4.R1, as amended from time to time, which is offered by the respective faculty referred to in the regulation, and

    "faculty" is deemed to include the School of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Business School.
  2. A person may be a candidate for an advanced diploma or an associate diploma in a nominated discipline or specialty offered by a faculty (‘the faculty’) and authorised by the Academic Board, who has-
    1. (i) qualified in the University for admission to an advanced diploma or an associate diploma approved for the purposes of this regulation by the faculty; or

      (ii) an equivalent qualification or experience which is recognised by the faculty as evidence of adequate training for the purposes of this regulation; and
    2. satisfied any other requirements of the faculty regarding the specialty to be studied; and
    3. obtained the consent of the faculty.
  3. The subjects of the course for an advanced diploma or an associate diploma and the conditions on which such subjects may be taken are those prescribed by the Academic Board on the recommendation of the faculty and published with the details of subjects.
  4. A candidate who, after being admitted as a candidate, has-
    1. pursued a course of studies for the time prescribed or for any variation of the time which has been formally approved by that faculty; and
    2. attended lectures and classes and undertaken such assignments, investigations and practical work as prescribed by the Academic Board on the recommendation of the relevant faculty; and
    3. completed to the satisfaction of the examiners the prescribed assessments,

may be granted the advanced diploma or associate diploma appropriate to the discipline or specialty studied, with the award title listed in Regulation 5.4.R1.
