Community Comes to Campus

Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 May, 2003

More than 6000 people joined in the University of Melbourne's 150th Anniversary Community Open Weekend at Parkville Campus- celebrating the origins and achievements of Victoria's oldest university and its place as a cultural institution of the state and the nation.

Visitors responded to an open invitation by the University to the public to enjoy a packed program of concerts, theatrical productions, exhibitions, tours of grounds and buildings and entertaining lectures and debates.

The central 150th ceremonial event was an academic procession from the new Law School at University Square to Wilson Hall for a Conferring of Degrees Ceremony, followed in the evening by the Town and Gown Dinner.
